Kalat battered by extreme cold, mercury drops below freezing point

Kalat and its adjoining areas are being buffeted by extremely cold breezes coming from Siberia plunging its mercury level below freezing point, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.


According to the Metrological Department, the minimum temperature was recorded as minus 5 degrees Celsius during the last 24 hours.


In the extreme cold, gas pressure shutdown and long load shedding of electricity have made human life miserable.


Overall weather


According to the Met Office weather report, mainly cold and dry weather is expected in most parts of the country, while very cold in northern parts and north Balochistan.


Dense fog/smog is likely to persist in plain areas of Punjab. Fog/smog is likely in plain areas of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and upper Sindh during night hours.
