The law-enforcement agencies (LEAs) have found more proof of the use of foreign weapons by Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and other banned militias against the country’s security forces, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
Pakistan has been locked in a conflict with the TTP for the last two decades.
And to make matters worse for the forces in Pakistan, the weapons, which the US forces had left behind before leaving Afghanistan, have now fallen into the hands of these militants.
This development has led to a surge in incidents of terrorism in the country.
Two days ago, on December 29, 2023, the security forces, in an intelligence-based operation carried out in Mir Ali area of North Waziristan, had also recovered made-in-the-USA weapons and explosives, including AK-47 rifles.
Five terrorists were gunned down in that operation too.
Similarly, same weapons were used by the militants belonging to the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) in their attack on the FC checkposts in Noshki and Panjgur in 2022.
Likewise, the TTP had also used the US weapons in their assault on Zhob Garrison in July, 2023.
TTP militants, equipped with the latest US weapons, had attacked two Pakistan Army posts in Chitral on September 6, 2023.
Similarly, foreign weapons had also been recovered from the militants who had stormed the Mianwali airbase on November 4, 2023.
The weapons recovered included RPG-7, AK-74, M-4 and M-16 A-4.
This does not stop here as the US-made weapons were also recovered in operations conducted in Daraban and Tank.
The personnel of Pakistan Customs and security forces had seized the latest US weapons which had been concealed in sacks of onions loaded on a vehicle coming from Afghanistan to Pakistan.
