On the eve of the New Year, Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Syed Mohsin Naqvi has inaugurated 36 recently upgraded police stations of the province online, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.
In another gift to the people of the province, he has announced that the raise in fee for getting a new driving license will not take effect until January 9, 2024.
Speaking after the inauguration, he said there would be a comfortable environment for the visitors at these police stations as there would be chairs, sofas, and alert police personnel manning the front desk.
The chief minister also viewed different sections of the Gulshan Iqbal police station such as the front desk, waiting room, SHO room, IT room, and meeting room, and appreciated the provision of facilities to the complainants.
On the occasion, he congratulated Punjab IGP, CCPO, Lahore, DIG operations and members of their teams on the upgradation of police stations in the province.
The IGP gave a briefing on the upgradations of stations and the facilities provided there for addressing the complaints of visitors.
Later talking to the media, the CM said that the Smart Police Center project was completed in 30 days. “Today is the day to celebrate,” he said, and expressed the hope that all projects that he had initiated after taking office would be completed before January 31.
He made it clear that no leniency would be shown towards those driving without licenses.
The chief minister said that 30 per cent drop in the crime rate was a good omen.
