Pakistan Railways has achieved record revenue of over 88 billion rupees at the end of the fiscal year 2023-24, marking a 40% increase from last year’s 63 billion rupees, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Sunday.
This unprecedented revenue surpasses the government’s target of 73 billion rupees set at the beginning of the financial year.
The breakdown of earnings includes 47 billion rupees from passenger trains, 28 billion rupees from goods vehicles, and over 13 billion rupees from railway lands and other sources.
CEO Railways Aamir Baloch attributed this success to the tireless efforts of the employees and expressed determination to increase the revenue to one trillion rupees next year.
"Never in the history of railways has such revenue been recorded," he stated.
