Eunuchs’ privileges bill tabled in KP Assembly

A draft bill on the protection, welfare, empowerment and financial security of the eunuchs has been moved in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly on Wednesday.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, the bill was tabled by Asia Khattak and Aisha Naeem, members of the Parliamentary Women's Caucus Committee on Eunuchs.
Committee No 6 of the Parliamentary Women's Caucus submitted the draft bill after holding several consultative sessions to make a consensus on the issues related to the eunuchs’ community in the province.
According to the bill, eunuchs registered with the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) will be eligible for government benefits and privileges.
In the draft bill, eunuchs have been given a right to identify their gender as per their wish and those who will register in NADRA’s Gender Category-X will be eligible to get all government benefits.
The government will be obliged to provide financial security for eunuchs registered with X-gender, the draft bill said adding that the eunuchs will also be able to get a driving license on an X-gender ID card at the age of 18.
