A court in Lahore Friday expressed dissatisfaction and issued an arrest warrant against the counter-terrorism inspector and SHO of Shadman police station for not producing case records related to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Omar Sarfraz Cheema’s bail.
According to 24NewsHD TV channel, the court issued bailable arrest warrants for the counter-terrorism inspector and the SHO of Shadman Police Station in response to their repeated failure to produce the necessary case documents.
The court has demanded that the investigative officer and SHO submit bail bonds worth Rs. 50,000 each and set the next hearing date for June 4th.
The judge sternly warned them that if the records relevant to the former Punjab governor are not presented at the next hearing, non-bailable arrest warrants will be issued.
Cheema's legal team, including Hassan Yousaf Shah and Salman Shahid, pleaded that the police had consistently failed to provide the court with the required records for over a year.
This ongoing delay had prevented the court from deciding on the bail applications of Omar Cheema.
The lawyers stressed that the lack of record submission is obstructing justice and prolonging the legal process unnecessarily.
They called for immediate action to ensure that the police comply with court orders and facilitate a fair trial.
