Coronavirus cases increase by 990 in Pakistan

With the number of confirmed coronavirus cases increasing by 990 during the past 24 hours, the total reached 16,817, official figures showed on Friday morning.

According to the National Command and Operation Centre and the official website, the active cases currently stood at 12,117 as a total of 4,315 persons have fully recovered from the infection.

Meanwhile, 24 more people died during the same period after which death toll climbed to 385.

As far as testing is concerned, another 7,971 people were tested, meaning that the total number of tests conducted so far have reached 182,131.

Most coronavirus cases have been recorded in Punjab where the number stands at 6,340. It is followed by Sindh 6,053, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 2,627, Balochistan 1,049, Islamabad 343, Gilgit-Baltistan 339 and Azad Kashmir 66.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa continues to top the list when it comes deaths with 146 followed by Sindh 112.

Meanwhile, the number of deaths recorded in other provinces are: Punjab 106, Balochistan 14, Islamabad 4 and Gilgit-Baltistan 3.

The province-wise distribution of active coronavirus cases is: Sindh 4,719, Punjab 4,313, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 1,827, Balochistan 852, Islamabad 295, Gilgit-Baltistan 88 and Azad Kashmir 23.

The numbers coming out of Sindh [total and active cases as well as deaths] show that the situation is worsening in the province because the people are not following the government’s directives.
