The Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Haji Ghulam Ali who is one of the seasoned politicians of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Pakistan (JUIP) of Maulana Fazlur Rehman called on Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Mian Nawaz Sharif in Lahore on Wednesday.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, the JUIP-backed KP governor arrived at Sharif's residence at Jati Umra at Raiwind in Lahore to meet the PML-N leadership.
The channel sources said Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif was also present in the meeting between her father Mian Nawaz Sharif and KP Governor Haji Ghulam Ali.
The sources said KP Governor Haji Ghulam Ali discussed matters of mutual interest with the PML-N leadership.
Haji Ghulam Ali was appointed KP Governor in the last caretaker government of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) tenure on the recommendation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
It is worth mentioning that JUIP chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has shown his unhappiness toward the sitting government and seconded the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's (PTI) right to rally just two days ago.
The JUI chief also threatened to topple the government by agitation, saying: “Those, who kept JUI-F out of parliament, must listen that we will raise our voice against their injustices and cruelties on streets." He said those, who had constantly raised concerns over the rigged elections held in 2018, were silent on the rigging in the February 8 elections.
“For how long ‘establishment’s parliament’ will go on" he said adding, “We democratically created this country. Neither the bureaucracy nor the establishment had any role in the creation of this country. Think about how long you will continue to compromise on the results that the establishment dictates."
On the other hand, Governor Ghulam Ali while addressing in a university in Mardan on April 25 dismissed the impression to impose the governor’s rule in the province, adding that he was a politician and he could not even think of any such move. The governor said that he would leave the Governor’s House if he was asked by his party head Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
“I am a political worker and have respect for the mandate of the people. I cannot even think of imposing the governor’s rule in the province,” he added. To a question, he said that he was ready to play his role to maintain a working relationship between the province and the federation.
