A stone-hearted stepfather has thrown acid on his 5-year-old daughter in Lahore, injuring her seriously, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
Sources said that victim’s father on instructions from his wife reached house of victim’s grandfather where she has been living to take her with him, but she refused to go with him.
After her refusal, the stepfather became annoyed and he threw acid on her daughter in anger.
Due to acid attack, the girl’s body was severely burnt 20 percent and she was under treatment at a hospital.
With about 200 acid attacks reported annually, Pakistan has a reputation for being one of the deadliest countries for acid attacks. Most of the victims are women.
“Some of the reasons women have been subjected to acid attacks include rejecting marriage proposals, giving birth to daughters instead of sons, and not bringing enough dowry to their in-laws’ houses,” said Musarrat Misbah, a Pakistani philanthropist and entrepreneur.
