Deadline for filing income tax returns relaxed yet again

Government has extended the date for filing income tax returns, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Saturday.

According to a notification, the last date for filing income tax returns is October 31.

Last month, on September 28, the Finance Ministry barred the extension in the tax return filing period and September 30 was the deadline.

The deadline has now been relaxed for a month.

In view of the demand of trade bodies and various tax bar associations, it has been decided that the date of filing of income tax return for Tax Year 2023 is extended to *31st October, 2023*. However, no further extension for filing of said return shall be granted.
