Punjab govt to buy luxury cars for parliamentary secretaries

The Punjab government has decided to purchase luxury cars for parliamentary secretaries against its austerity campaign, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.
Approval was given to buy new vehicles for 20 parliamentary secretaries in the Punjab Assembly.
Parliamentary secretaries will be given new vehicles worth millions of rupees.
A total of 76 vehicles worth Rs610.24 million will be purchased for parliamentary secretaries, provincial ministers and S&GAD.
Additional Chief Secretary Punjab Ahmad Raza Sarwar requested to buy 76 luxury vehicles.
Worth Rs36.1 for the protocol of S&GAD, two luxury vehicles will also be purchased from Indus Motors.
Moreover, 30 luxury vehicles will also be purchased at a cost of Rs209 million for the protocol of the provincial ministers.
Over Rs17.495 million will be paid as tax on vehicles while Rs30 million more will be spent for decoration of 30 vehicles.
Only 9 vehicles were required for parliamentary secretaries, but approval was given to purchase 20 additional vehicles.
