Flood claims another 19 lives: NDMA

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Thursday stated that 19 died in the last 24 hours due to floods across the country, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.

According to the NDMA, 12 deaths were reported in Sindh, four in KP and three in Baluchistan while a total of 1,256 people were injured in flood-related incidents across the country.

Since June 14, a total of 1,186 deaths have been reported, the authority said, adding that 256 died in Baluchistan and 268 in KP. A total of 244 women and 416 children are among the deceased while the number of injured hit 4896, the NDMA reported, adding that  Punjab has the highest number of injured that is 3,266, while 328 people were injured in KP, 166 in Balochistan, and  1,110 in Sindh.

The report stated that 736,242 houses were partially destroyed due to floods while  436,307 were destroyed completely due to recent rains and floods. It said 2,328 kilometers of roads were damaged in Sindh, 1,000 kilometers in Balochistan, and 1589 kilometers in KP due to recent rains and floods. A total of 243 bridges across the country were damaged, the authority maintained.
