Following a recovered patient from the coronavirus who donated his blood that could serve as the antibody when injected to the other patient, Dr Saqib Ansari of Children’s Hospital Karachi hailed the development by saying our determination will outlive the coronavirus.

Yahya Ansari, who has recently recovered from the coronavirus, has donated his blood that could possibly save the life of the people infected with the coronavirus.

In a press conference with the recovered patient in Karachi on Thursday, Dr Saqib Ansari said “Yahya Jafri’s plasma could serve the lives of the people infected by the virus.”

Dr Ansari said “We’re fighting on three different fronts: to save the society from this anarchic situation; to save them from depression and anxiety; and to remove their fears.”

He further advised people to self-isolate themselves if they get flu. “See, Yahya Ansari has recovered and is among us as healthy as always. Not only this, but he has come here to save your lives by donating his blood.”

Dr Ansari however clarified that women patients who recover from the infection are not usually considered for this purpose. “Usually, we take plasma from the recovered patients aged between 18 and 50.”

He added that we cannot experiment every medicine on a patient; “We’re using chloroquine for some, while erithromcyn for others. We’ll begin transfusion only after the government’s approval.”

Dr Ansari also enlightened the audience that one plasma could be transfused into one patient only, and added that “If the government allows us, we’ll begin working on it as we’ve all the equipment and the workforce.”

In addition, he said the facility for transfusion is equally available across the private as well as the government hospitals, and that “We need no funding or support from the government.”

“Even 90 percent of the corona patients even don’t require the plasma in the first place,” Dr Ansari said, and added that “it is meant for only those patients who’re in critical condition.”

“This virus will become part of history, only our determination will be remembered,” Dr Ansari said, and added that the people need to follow just a few precautionary measures like washing hands, and not going out of their houses,” Dr Ansari said.

Yahya Jafri said that he donated the blood as he wants that someone benefit from it, and said “I’m hopeful to Allah that this virus will be defeated soon, and we (Pakistanis) will succeed.”
