Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday reiterated general elections are not possible in the current precarious economic situation of the country, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.
He was heading the consultative session of the Pakistan Muslim League-N to discuss the prevalent political crisis in the country and cases being heard at the Supreme Court.
According to the sources, the premier said that it is difficult to hold Punjab and KP elections before October.
“We are trying day and night to fix the country's economy and will soon control the rising inflation.”
The PM said they believe in constructive politics, this is not the time for destructive politics.
Special Assistant to Prime Minister Malik Ahmad Khan, Ayaz Sadiq, Ata Ullah Tarar, Ahad Cheema, and other leaders participated in the meeting held at Model Town Lahore.
The meeting discussed the constitutional and legal aspects of Monday's hearing in the Supreme Court.
Federal Law Minister Nazir Tarar apprised the members about yesterday's hearing of the apex court.
The meeting also reviewed the legal aspects of the situation created after the apex court had rejected the government’s request to constitute a full bench to hear the elections’ delay case.
The participants were of the view that the Supreme Court is respectable but confusion has arisen due to the controversial note.
