The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has again summoned senior Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Khawaja Asif on July 3 (Friday) in a housing society scam, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.
The PML-N leader has been directed to appear before the NAB Lahore office at 11 am.
He was earlier summoned in the same case on June 26 but he did not appear before the NAB team and informed the anti-graft watchdog through his lawyer Najamul Hassan that he was busy in the National Assembly budget session. The NAB termed the reply unsatisfactory and summoned him again on July 3.
Khawaja Asif is accused of selling 137 kanals land of Cantt Housing Society illegally with an underhand agreement with the society’s administration, NAB sources said.
The TV channel quoting its sources said Khuwaja Asif with the support of housing schemes administration grabbed those plots that were originally not sold to the housing societies. He was also accused of legalizing the illegal housing schemes in Sialkot.
As per NAB questionnaire, the family members of Khawaja Asif are also allegedly involved in the case, the sources claimed.
It is pertinent to mention that in June 2019, the NAB had summoned Khawaja Asif’s wife Mussarat Asif and son Khawaja Asad for interrogation in the Cantt Housing Scheme, Sialkot corruption case.
