A high alert has been sounded in Lahore while security was tightened particularly around churches, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The high alert was declared after Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi issued directives for tightening the security arrangements.
The DIG Operations also directed for strict checking at all the exit and entry points of the provincial capital.
Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi ordered divisional superintendents of police to hold talks with caretakers of all churches and review their security.
The DIG also asked all the police jawans deployed for security duty to remain alert all the time.
Last month also, Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Bilal Siddique Kamyana had also ordered tightening security at the churches.
Additional forces, including snipers, were deployed to sensitive churches, and regular inspections were conducted at the city’s entry and exit points to enhance security measures. The police officers personally had inspected the security arrangements at churches and other significant locations.
Furthermore, the Dolphin Squad, PRUs, and Elite force teams had carried out effective patrolling around churches to ensure the safety of worshippers.
