Funds of PIA’s closed foreign stations yet to be transferred to Pakistan

March 2, 2023 01:06 PM

The funds of the Pakistan International Airlines’ (PIA) foreign stations that had been closed are yet to be transferred to Pakistan, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.

It has been learnt that the immediate transfer of Rs1.35 billion worth of funds was required as per the rules.

The funds belong to the PIA’s closed stations in Barcelona, New York, Kuwait, Thailand, Singapore, and Bangladesh.

The 2021-22 report of the Auditor General of Pakistan has revealed the non-transfer of the funds.

The report held the incompetence and carelessness of the PIA’s management responsible for the non-transfer of the funds.

It also stated that the prolonged non-transfer of funds had caused additional financial burden on the PIA.
