Lahore police have vowed to provide foolproof security during the PSL 8 match between Lahore Qalandars and Quetta Gladiators tonight, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.
Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Bilal Siddique Kamyana said that all the arrangements regarding security and traffic management were complete under the supervision of the chief traffic officer (CTO).
“A better strategy has been adopted for the security of the matches. Police are working in coordination with all the institutions including the district administration for foolproof security arrangements,” he added.
“As many as 8,000 police officials including lady police officers will be deployed for the security of tonight’s match. 43 teams of Elite Force, 107 of Dolphin Squad, and 58 teams of Police Response Unit will be patrolling,” he stated.
“Important places including the teams’ route, stadium, and lodging place will be monitored through CCTV cameras,” he declared.
The CCPO also directed the police personnel on duty to be on high alert and keep a close watch on suspicious activities.
He said that the search and sweep operations were going on across the city, adding that vigilance teams had been formed for checking.
“Traffic advisory has also been issued for the information of citizens and ensuring smooth flow of traffic. There is a zero-route for the teams during their movement. Citizens are advised to take alternative routes during the movement of the teams,” the Lahore police spokesperson said.
“The cricket fans should follow the instructions of Lahore police to enjoy the cricket game,” he added.
