12 terrorists arrested in 140 intelligence-based operations across Punjab

The Counter-Terrorism Department, Punjab, in 140 intelligence-based operations (IBOs) carried out in different districts of the province to prevent incidents of terrorism, arrested 12 terrorists, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
The spokesman for the CTD said that operations were carried out in Sargodha, Bhakkar, Rahim Yar Khan, Faisalabad, Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib and Jhang.
He added that the CTD arrested two most wanted terrorists from Sargodha and Bhakkar and recovered seven detonators, bullets, weapons, two improvised explosive devices (IEDs), cellphones, banned literature and cash from them.
The spokesman further said that the terrorists who were identified as Nadeem Murtaza, Muhammad Jabar, Asif Iftikhar, Shamsuddin, Ijaz Hussain, Hassan Khan, Shahid Saeed and Farooq Ahmad wanted to spread chaos in society through acts of terrorism.
He informed that in 1,318 combing operations conducted in Punjab this week, 173 suspected terrorists were taken into custody, while 40,952 people were questioned.
The spokesman said that the CTD was committed to making Punjab a safe and secure province by eradicating the scourge of terrorism.
