Hospitals turn warzones as attendants, guards clash in Lahore, Sukkur

October 2, 2020 12:48 PM

Several people were injured as two main hospitals of Lahore and Sukkur witnessed clashes between citizens and security staff, forcing police to come into action, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.

According to details, seven people were injured when some youngsters and guards punched, slapped and kicked each other at the emergency department of Lahore General Hospital.

These youth, who had arrived at the hospital located on Ferozepur Road, were reportedly angry over not providing timely treatment to someone they had brought to one of the main health facilities in the city.

Later, they came out of the premises and blocked the busy road during rush hours while chanting slogans against the hospital administration.

In this situation, the officials, including the SHO, from Kot Lakhpat Police Station reached the spot. But instead of calming them down through talks, they started pushing and shoving the protesters.

As a team from City42 – a sister organisation of 24NewsHD TV channel – covering the incident, the SHO threatened the reporter and cameraman, asking them not to film the episode. Some policemen even tried to damage the camera.

Meanwhile, the youngsters later filed an application with the area police station for registration of case against the hospital administration.

On the other hand, the guards and visitors also clashed at the Civil Hospital Sukkur after they were not allowed to meet a patient admitted at the facility.

Meantime, the policemen from C-Section Police Station arrived at the scene and arrested one of guards and some visitors.

During the clash, the uniforms of security guards were torn while one of the visitors also had his finger broken.
