Opp’s Rehbar Committee meeting on Thursday to finalise APC date

Leaders of the mainstream opposition parties Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Wednesday announced that opposition's Rehbar Committee to meet on Thursday (tomorrow) to finalize the All Parties Conference (APC) date, 24NewsHD TV channel reported. 

The announcement was made in a joint press conference of the PML-N and PPP leaders after the meeting of the PML-N delegation led by President Shahbaz Sharif with PPP Co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari at Bilawal House Karachi.

The PPP delegation included Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and PPP Sindh President Nisar Khorro, Farhatullah Babar, Naveed Qamar, Waqar Mehdi and Aajez Dhamra while PML-N delegation included Maryam Aurangzeb, Ahsan Iqbal, Muhammad Zubair, Rana Mashhood and Shah Muhammad Shah.

Talking to newsmen, PML-N leader Ahsan Iqbal said. “In today’s meeting, it was decided to attend Thursday’s opposition's Rehbar Committee meeting.”

“Opposition can play a greater role. The country has to be saved from father loss and destruction,” he added.

He said: “The record of rains in Karachi has devastated everything. We expressed our solidarity with the people of Sindh, including Karachi, over the loss of life and property,” he added. 

He said Shahbaz Sharif has proposed that the federal government should announce a serious and large aid package in collaboration with the Sindh government. 

“We have come to reassure the people of Karachi and Sindh that the whole country is with them,” Ahsan Iqbal said. 

He maintained that the federal government should support the Sindh government to compensate the farmers as well.
