Floodwater sweeps through Bahawalnagar localities as rivers swell

Road connection among dozens of localities in Bahawalnagar district was severed after River Sutlej burst its banks while the situation has still not improved in other Punjab rivers which continue to be either in low or medium flood, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.

Similarly, road connection of over 40 localities was severed after River Sutlej burst its banks at Bahawalnagar. People are facing great difficulties in their mobility.

River Chenab inundates villages at Rangpur

Dozens of villages, including Ameerpur Sarbana, Barahampur, Karri Ali Mardan, were flooded while crops grown over hundreds of acres of land were destroyed after River Chenab burst its banks at Rangpur.

There are fears that floodwater might even wash away the super embankment, built at the cost of Rs60 million.

Locals have said that roads have been washed away due to which they are facing lots of difficulties in moving from one place to another.

They have appealed to the government to rescue them in this situation.

River Sutlej destroys crops at Pakpattan

Crops grown over thousands of acres of land were flooded after River Sutlej spilled over into Chak Shahu Baloch village of Pakpattan district.

And to make matters worse, the district administration is nowhere to be seen due to which the villagers have been forced to move to safe places on their own.

River Sutlej enters localities at Arifwala

On the other hand, there is no improvement in the situation at Arifwala where the water level in River Sutlej is still rising.

72,000 cusecs of water passing through the river has entered different localities, damaging 500 homes and destroying crops in the process.

Residents of the area are without food and fodder for their animals.

The water has even washed away roads due to which people are facing great inconvenience.  

However, after news was aired on 24News, the assistant commissioner visited the flood-affected areas and assured the people that their issues would be resolved.

Rescue 1122 personnel, on the other hand, have shifted 9,000 people to camps and other safe places.

River Indus in low flood at Taunsa

There is low flood in River Indus at Taunsa. However, the situation is far from satisfactory.
