Sister shot dead at her mehndi for land

In a horrendous act, a man shot dead his sister in Hafizabad as she was attending the mehndi ceremony a day before her wedding over a property dispute, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.

The murder was committed Wednesday night when the accused, Muhammad Ali, opened fire at Sajida, 25, who died on the spot. But it didn’t stop there as he targeted the other sister, Sharifan Bibi, too as she tried to run away to save her life.

Sharifan, 29, received bullet wounds just below her head and in the back. She is currently in critical condition and being treated at Mayo Hospital of Lahore.

Sharing the background of this ghastly murder, the relatives say the two sisters had four acres of land each in their name and the brother was against the very idea of Sajida getting married as he wanted to grab their share of the inheritance.

On the other hand, Riaz Sipra – the area SHO – said all the four brothers were unhappy with the marriage and they had fled after committing the crime. However, he added that the police conducting raids for their arrest.

Meanwhile, the locals have demanded immediate arrest and strict action against the accused who did not hesitate targeting their sisters for land.
