Lahore, with AQI recorded at 206 on Tuesday, was at the second spot on the list of the world’s cities with the worst air quality, reported 24NewsHD TV channel. 

Indian capital New Delhi with AQI 226 was the most polluted city.  

Meanwhile, the first rain of the winter season in Lahore turned the weather cold.

Different localities of the Punjab capital received drizzle to light rain late Monday night that also brought down the pollution levels in the city’s atmosphere.  

Drizzle or rain was reported from Township, Green Town, Model Town, Nishtar, Chungi Amar Sidhu, Ichhra, Raiwind, Canal Road, Mazang, Jail Road, Kalima Chowk and Model Town.  

However, the Met Office said there were no chances of rain in the city during the next 24 hours.

It forecast that the maximum temperature in the city would reach 23 degrees Celsius in the afternoon.  

Upper parts of country receive rain, snow 

On the other hand, there were reports of rain, with snowfall over the hills, from different areas of upper and central Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), making tourists from across the country flock to Neelum Valley, Urrang Kel and Lipa Valley.

While white flakes of snow enhanced the beauty of these areas, night temperatures dropped below 0 degrees Celsius in these areas. 

SDMA asked the people to avoid travelling unnecessarily during hostile weather.

Rain and snow were also reported from Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and upper parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) namely Kalam, Balakot and Kaghan.

The weather department, in its forecast, said different parts of north-eastern Balochistan, GB, AJK and upper KP would receive rain and snow during the next 24 hours.
