The Additional and Sessions Court Jacobabad put off hearing of a case of a Hindu girl, who reportedly accepted Islam and married a Muslim youth out of "free will".
About 18 days ago, Mehak Kumari fled her home and married Ali Raza after accepting Islam at Dargah Amrut Sharif, assuming a new name - Aliza Solangi.
Hindu parents of Aliza have filed a case for ascertaining her age, claiming she is underage and had been forced to marry.
Aliza was brought to the court of Additional and Stlp
essions judge Ghulam Ali Kanasro from Darul Amaan in Larkana amid foolproof security on Monday but the case could not be heard because the judge was on leave. Resultantly, the hearing was put off until Thursday (February 6).
All roads leading to the court were barricaded with barbed wire to avoid any unpleasant incident on the occasion of her appearance.
Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz (JSQM) took out a protest rally against “what they called” forced conversion and marriage of Aliza.
A large number of folk singers and JSQM workers attended the rally led by Central Chairman Riaz Chandio. Addressing the rally, Chandio said they strongly condemn forced conversions.
