Interior Minister Mohsin Naqi has ordered Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) to go after drug barons and tighten checking at airports to stem smuggling of drugs, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Presiding over a special ANF meeting in Lahore on Monday to discuss measures aimed at curbing smuggling of narcotics and bolster surveillance, the interior minister directed the personnel to deal the drug mafia which is active around educational institutions selling ice drug with iron hands.
Mohsin Naqvi further directed to use drones technology to monitor movements of drug dealers, traffickers and smugglers in border areas of the country.
The minister said indiscriminate action must be taken against big drug dealers, ensuring they must face full force of the law.
Mohsin Naqvi lauded Director-General Anti-Narcotics Force Maj-Gen Abdul Moeed and his team for the release and safe return of a Pakistani family who was imprisoned in Saudi Arabia on fake drug smuggling charges.
Interior Minister said that despite limited resources the ANF is showing outstanding performance to thwart smuggling attempts in the country.
ANF Regional Director Sikandar Hayat, Director Enforcement Brigadier Imran and Director Intelligence Colonel Kamran were also present in the meeting.
