In yet another instance of national cricketers preferring their own interests to those of the country, pacer Shaheen Afridi showed his disinterest in playing the third and final test against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) in view of the upcoming T-20 series against New Zealand in which he is to lead team Pakistan, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.

Sources told 24News TV channel that Afridi had conveyed to the team management that he was not interested in playing the last test making workload formula an excuse.

This has come at a time when the national team have already lost the test series to the Aussies 2-0, and a whitewash is feared if they fail to perform at the SCG again.

Earlier, another cricketer Haris Rauf, too, had told the management that he would not be available for the series against Australia, and obtained an NOC for playing Big Bash T-20 league instead.
