Bannu UC officer, colleague gunned down before start of anti-polio campaign

Before the start of the anti-polio campaign, a Union Council officer and his colleague were gunned down in the limits of Bannu Cantt Police Station, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
According to police, unknown armed men opened fire at Union Council Mohmand Khel’s officer Ishaq Khan and his colleague Nazir Khan who were going back home on a bike after attending an observer meeting regarding the start of anti-polio drive in the district.
The incident took place at Dheri stop and both victims died on the spot.
According to police, Union Council Mohmand Khel workers had already received threats for starting a polio campaign in the area.
During the last campaign, unknown people had placed explosive material at the main gate of the UC and a letter in which UC workers were asked to abstain from the anti-polio campaign.
Police registered an FIR of the case at the request of Ishaq Khan’s cousin and started further investigation of the case.
