Former Sindh Governor Ishratul Abad Sunday expressed serious concern over the increasing street crime in Karachi through a tweet, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Highlighting the alarming situation, he noted that more than 73 people have lost their lives to street crime in 2024 alone.

"The tragic killing of Itqa Moin underscores the dire need for urgent action against street crime," Abad stated.

He emphasized that Karachi is the artery of Pakistan's economy, contributing more than half of the country's gross national income. "The stability of Karachi is essential for the development of the country," he added.

Abad reminisced about the peace achieved in Karachi through the extensive operation to curb crime and called for immediate measures to prevent the deterioration of law and order.

"This instability creates a favourable environment for anti-national forces, posing threats to both our security and economic development," he warned.

The former governor urged authorities to take swift and decisive action to restore peace and ensure the safety of Karachi's residents, stressing the critical importance of the city's stability for Pakistan's overall progress.
