Defending champions Lahore Qalandars have managed to ascend to the top spot on the points table after gaining successive victories in the eighth edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL).

The team in their campaign opener gained a narrow one-run victory against PSL foe Multan Sultans that are known for their aggressive bowling attack and power-hitting skills.

The team suffered a setback in their second match against Karachi Kings as they lost it by 67 runs.

However, Qalandars pulled off an impressive comeback in their third match against Quetta Gladiators and defeated the latter by 63 runs.

In the fourth match, Qalandars posted 241 for 3, their highest batting total in PSL, against Peshawar Zalmi and steamrolled the latter by 40 runs.

The team then inflicted a crushing 110-run defeat on Islamabad United in their fifth PSL 8 match.

In their last match, Qalandars staged a magnificent recovery from 50 for 7 to win by 17 runs, keeping Quetta Gladiators rooted to the bottom of the PSL table.

It is to be noted here that Qalandars rank first on the points table with 10 points.
