United National Secretary-General António Guterres in a message on World Press Freedom Day said that in too many countries journalists and media workers face censorship, abuse, harassment, detention and even death, simply for doing their jobs, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

“On World Press Freedom Day, I urge all governments to do everything in their power to support a free, independent and diverse media,” the UN Secretary-General said.
According to ‘Reporters Without Borders’, an international body working for the rights of journalists, Pakistan ranked at 145 in the 2021 World Press Freedom Index.
Every year, World Press Freedom Day is observed on May 3.
