Dispose of references against Sharifs just like Imran’s acquittal: Rana Sana

November 3, 2020 05:29 PM

PML-N Punjab President Rana Sanaullah on Tuesday urged the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take notice of Prime Minister Imran Khan’s acquittal in the Parliament attack case.

The references filed against the Sharif family should be disposed of just like the prime minister had been acquitted, he said at a press conference held in Lahore.

Rana Sana said the prosecution argued that the court’s time was being wasted. Someone should ask them whether six years had not been wasted [by not pursuing the case], the PML-N leader added.

He said a time would come when the prosecution was going to tell the accountability court that the cases had been on a political basis.

Rana Sana questioned if the institutions were being controversial then who had been doing so. Who made the NAB controversial, he asked with a quip whether the opposition was involved in blackmailing.

The PML-N leader also wondered how democracy would move forward in the country if institutions were to be used for political objectives. Judiciary was being used to open the path for Imran, he alleged.

About the party supremo, Rana Sana said Nawaz Sharif was in London awaiting his surgery and also ensuring the treatment of the ruling gang. He would return to the country after both treatments, the PML-N Punjab chief remarked.

People had accepted Nawaz Sharif’s narrative and changing their loyalties by some people won’t affect the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), he asserted.

He said different committees had been formed for the PDM rally in Lahore with the central one headed by Pervaiz Malik, adding that the public meeting would be historic and decisive.
