Foolproof security arrangements made ahead of Asia Cup match at Qaddafi Stadium

As many as 10 SPs, 38 DSPs, 94 SHOs, 510 upper subordinates and over 6,000 police personnel will perform duties in order to ensure foolproof security during the Asia Cup match between Afghanistan and Bangladesh cricket teams at Qaddafi Stadium in Lahore today in the afternoon, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.

CCPO Lahore Bilal Siddique Kamyana has said that security will remain on a high alert in the Punjab capital during all matches of the tournament. “Best security arrangements have been made in and around the match’s venue, at routes and at the hotel where the players will stay so that any untoward incident could be avoided,” he has said, adding, “The supervisory officers will keep an eye on the police personnel so that any security lapse could be avoided.”

Traffic police completes arrangements for match

Meanwhile, Lahore’s traffic police have made foolproof arrangements as Afghanistan and Bangladesh cricket teams are set to clash at Qaddafi Stadium today in the afternoon.

CTO Mustansar Feroze has said that the teams will be given zero route during their movement from hotel to the stadium and vice versa.

He has informed it will be ensured that roads are blocked for a minimum time period during the movement of teams. “Government College for Boys, Liberty Market’s parking area and LDA Sun Fort have been reserved for the parking of vehicles,” he has said, and added, “Traffic will be as usual on The Mall, Jail Road, Ferozepur Road, Gulberg’s Main Boulevard and Canal Road while the matches are being played.”

He has further said that more than 2, 000 traffic police personnel will perform duties on different routes. “As many as 20 personnel will also be deployed in order to lift the cars parked in the areas not designated for parking,” he has said.
