Maryam Nawaz warns against proliferation of garbage in streets and roads

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said that littering should not be visible on streets and markets, and vehicles involved in solid waste management should also be kept clean and well-maintained, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The chief minister stressed strict enforcement of cleanliness regulations, stating that any laxity would not be tolerated.
The chief minister passed the order while chairing a special meeting convened to review the implementation of the Solid Waste Management System throughout the province.
CM Maryam also directed the officials to keep the vehicles that were used for the collection of the waste.
During the meeting, an assessment of the approved contracts for outsourcing the Solid Waste Management System was also conducted.
The CM was briefed that the sorting of organic, inorganic, iron, and plastic waste would be carried out at transfer stations. Moreover, 23 landfill sites and 66 transfer stations would be established at all divisional headquarters of the province.
The Punjab Chief Minister approved the implementation of a digital monitoring system for the Solid Waste Management System while also directing to analysis of the performance of financial share and subsidy-receiving waste management companies. She instructed Provincial Minister Zeeshan Rafique to monitor outsourcing transparency for solid waste management.
