Punjab Assembly Speaker Parvez Elahi has scolded the provincial government for its failure to govern, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Tuesday.

During his speech at the assembly session, the former CM questioned whether the government improves its performance or not.

He warned against halting development funds, saying that if anyone dares delay the release of funds will face music.

For three years, request were made repeatedly but to no avail, he said adding that troublemakers will be brought to the assembly.

The Punjab Assembly unanimously approved Provincial Assembly of the Punjab Privileges (Amendment) Bill 2021.

The bill was moved by PML-Q Sajid Ahmed Khan and passed on July 13 previously but it was later returned by Governor Ch Muhammad Sarwar with on July 23 under the Article 116 of the Constitution.

The PA speaker Parvez Elahi, after the passage of the bill said the members’ privileges bill is a law stressing that exemplary punishments to defiant bureaucrats.

Last month, FIA defied the Punjab assembly speaker's orders to produce MPA Nazir Ahmad Chohan. He expressed his displeasure on bureaucracy and advised them not to become a Tarzan as the issues and directives of Punjab Assembly really matters.

“This is a parliament and surely not a joke,” Elahi said. He said that it was written in the law that all cabinet members were accountable in front of the parliament. Insiders said the FIA authorities did not bring the detainee as they were issued by the Punjab Assembly.
