Punjab police observed Police Martyrs Day on Sunday to pay tribute to the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.


In this regard, a number of ceremonies were organized in various cities of the province. 


In Gujranwala, Police Martyrs Day Ceremony was held at Ashraf Marth Police Lines which was attended by police officers, families of martyrs and a large number of citizens.


On the occasion, the participants paid tribute to SSP Ashraf Marth Shaheed and other martyrs on their bravery and courage.


SSP Ashraf Marth was martyred in a terrorist attack on May 6, 1997.


In Faisalabad division, events were organized to pay tribute to police martyrs.


Moreover, special events were organized at Jhang, Chiniot, Toba Tek Singh and Shorkot.


Police officers, business community lighted candles at the martyrs' memorial.


On the occasion of Police Martyrs Day a rally of Attock Police from Kachhari Chowk to Fawara Chowk was organized.


On the occasion, DPO Attock Dr Sardar Ghiyas Gul Khan, civil administration officers, DSPs and SHOs, scholars of different schools of thought and a large number of citizens participated in the rally.


Speaking on the occasion DPO Attock Dr Sardar Ghiyas Gul Khan said that the sacrifices of the martyrs are an example for us, who sacrifice their lives for duty.


Police Martyr's Day is also being observed in Takhtbhai with devotion and respect. On the occasion, the elite force saluted the grave of martyr ASI Muhammad Alam.


PM pays rich tribute to Shaheed policemen 


Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid rich tribute to the martyred police officers and personnel and said that their sacrifices in the line of duty and eradication of crimes were unprecedented on Sunday.


According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, on the Youm-e-Shuhada-e-Police, the PM said that the martyrs' day reminded them of the bravery displayed by police force.


The PM said that the entire nation was proud of its martyred police personnel and saluted them on their sacrifices.


He said that it was the government’s responsibility to look after the bereaved families of Shaheed police officers and personnel and reiterated that no leniency in this regard would be tolerated.


The prime minister assured that the federal government would take all possible steps for the provision of education and health facilities to the children of shuhada, adding that the bereaved families would be taken care of in every possible way.


The prime minister further recollected that during his tenure as chief minister of Punjab, he and announced a big and historic package for the martyred police personnel.


Punjab CM Maryam pays high tribute to martyrs


In her message on the occasion of Police Shuhda Day, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said salute to the great sacrifices of all martyrs. August 4 can never be forgotten as this day reminds the martyrs.


Maryam Nawaz Sharif said that Martyrs Day is a day to pay tribute to the great sacrifices of martyrs. Martyrs will always live in our hearts.


The eternal sacrifices of police martyrs are an asset that can never be forgotten, Maryam Nawaz Sharif said.


She said the government of Punjab is with the families of the martyrs every moment and will always be with them.


Maryam Nawaz Sharif said police force is performing valuable duties in every area including Kutch area.


The Punjab government is using all resources for the welfare of the martyrs' families, Maryam Nawaz said.


The duty of caring and serving the family of every martyr will be fully fulfilled, Maryam Nawaz said.


IG Punjab pays tribute to martyrs


Meanwhile, IG Punjab Dr Usman Anwar paid tribute to the eternal sacrifices of police officers and youths on Police Martyrs' Day.


He said that 1638 brave martyrs of the Punjab Police laid down their lives fighting against criminal elements for the establishment of law and order.


Sacrificing their lives while fighting, the martyrs of the police sacrificed their lives today for the sake of the country and made the tomorrow of the nation safe, IG said.


IG Punjab said the welfare of the families of martyrs is my priority, the police department and force will never leave you alone in every occasion of joy and sorrow, and living nations never forget their heroes.
