Man dies, 7 injured as blast destroys rickshaw in Rawalpindi

An explosion ripped through a rickshaw at Rawalpindi’s main station on Friday, killing at least one person and injuring seven others, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Police said the explosion occurred in the rickshaw parked in Pir Wadhai area near the bus station. Police spokesperson Sajjadul Hassan told the media that the victims were shifted to a nearby hospital.

Though initiation reports suggested that the explosion was caused by the gas cylinder, the police spokesman said the nature of the blast was still being determined.

The area was cordoned off as officials from police and intelligence agencies were searching it to collect evidence.
