A commission investigating this year’s fuel crisis in the country submitted its investigation report to Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday.
According to the report, oil marketing companies were responsible for the fuel crisis, which hit the country in June this year. According to the report, oil marketing companies halted fuel supply to petrol pumps despite availability of petrol and diesel in the country in abundance. The report says that government agencies did not do an audit of stocks of the oil marketing companies during the crisis.
However, questions are being raised about the investigation commission’s decision to hold the oil marketing companies responsible for the fuel crisis without doing an audit of stocks of the oil marketing companies.
Senior journalist and analyst Ahmad Waleed says it is government’s incompetence to blame the oil marketing companies for the crisis without doing an audit of their stocks.
The investigation commission has recommended stern action against the oil marketing companies responsible for the crisis.
The government had announced a cut in oil prices in June this year. Immediately after this announcement, the country plunged into the worst oil crisis.
