The Sindh High Court on Wednesday approved a 20-day protective bail for former President of Pakistan and leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Dr Arif Alvi, in all pending cases against him.
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, due to a fear arrest, the PTI leader approached the court, which granted relief for his concerns on Wednesday.
Following the bail, Dr Arif Alvi informally spoke to the media and expressed his frustration over numerous cases filed against him.
"I don't even know the names of the FIRs registered against him in various places; everyone knows they are baseless," he remarked.
When asked about the possibility of his arrest, the former president stated, "FIRs are registered for the purpose of making arrests."
He revealed that even one of his acquaintances undergoing surgery in the US had been named in an FIR here in Pakistan.
Commenting on the Islamabad incident, Arif Alvi shared, "My opinion aligns with the nation’s sentiments. People were killed, and 'they' [government officials] claim no bullets were fired. In Karachi, if a bullet was fired four miles away, it felt like it was at my home." He added,
He added, "Everyone in Islamabad, including the Diplomatic Enclave, knows the truth. At least lie convincingly."
Dr Arif Alvi alleged that the authorities were hiding fatalities, emphasising that PTI is not a state body to conduct investigations. "It is the government’s responsibility to investigate," he said, suggesting that if PTI were given the government, it would carry out fair inquiries.
