Former Defence Minister and PML-N stalwart Khawaja Asif has said that the party has to give respect to its voters, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.

Addressing the party’s workers’ convention in Sialkot on Saturday, he accused the PTI of sowing the seeds of hatred during four years of its rule.

In a reference to former prime minister and ex-PTI chairman Imran Khan, he asked who could be more anti-state than a political leader who spread hatred for his nefarious designs. “But we have to spread the message of love,” he added.

Asif said that the writ of the state was challenged on May 9. “And when a citizen takes on the state, the latter takes every step to preserve its stature,” he added.

Recalling the detonation of nukes on May 28, 1998, the former minister said that on that day, the country’s defence was made impregnable.

On the PML-N’s popularity, he said that the uncertainty surrounding its image in people was now fading. “If you want to make up for the losses the country suffered during four years of the PTI government, step out of your homes on February 8 and vote for the PML-N. “Now only three days are left to the general elections,” he said, and advised people to think before casting their votes.

PML-N stalwart said that February 8 would be the day of reckoning for those who believed in politics of hatred.

It was said, Asif went on to say, that the country’s youth supported a particular political party. “But so far in every gathering of the party, 50 per cent of the participants have been the youth,” he claimed.

The former minister said that by attending the PML-N’s rally in large numbers, the people of Sialkot had made it clear which party they supported.  “We have reached out to every voter. We have given respect to our voters.”
