The National Institute of Health (NIH) has issued an advisory on the JN1 variant of coronavirus, which is essentially a branch of the Omicron variant, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Wednesday.
The advisory said that the JN1 variant was first reported by the US-CDC in August 2023 and has been detected in many countries in recent weeks.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has confirmed the transmission of the virus in the regions of America, Western Pacific and Europe.
The advisory stated that the spread of JN1 is growing rapidly globally and urged the health authorities and other stakeholders to take timely prevention and control measures.
The advisory also said that the NIH is prepared to cope with the pressure of outdoor and indoor patients in the next few weeks.
The purpose of the advisory is to inform and facilitate the public health response to the JN1 variant, which poses a significant threat to public health.
