Let talent shine, not skin: Bilal Qureshi advocates for modesty in entertainment industry

Talented Pakistani actor Bilal Qureshi was a guest on Ahmed Fozan’s podcast, where he talked about some of his previous statements regarding fashion choices and requested the actress of the Pakistani industry to have some modesty.
In the entertainment industry, there should be a balance between self-expression and cultural values. It's great to see individuals like Bilal Qureshi advocating for modesty and encouraging Pakistani actresses to focus on showcasing their talent rather than relying on revealing clothes.

During the span of an interview, the actor was asked the reason by the host of his statement when he applauded Durefishan Saleem for wearing a non-revealing outfit at an award show that went viral on social media.
“The best dressed lady at LSA," he posted on Instagram stories.
To that question, the actor replied:
“I like fully covered dresses instead of expensive ones. I humbly request that the women of our industry not wear revealing clothes, as they are all so pretty, talented, and charismatic. I will not go into the religious debate, but we have a certain culture that should be followed and respected.
As celebrities, we all have a social responsibility; people follow us, so our every act should be in a positive way so the teenagers of our country do not lead the wrong path.
"Why there is a need for our women to wear revealing clothes, though its not a part of our culture, then people question why women are not being respected.”
He further stated the standard for good content.
“In my vision, a good film, drama, or award show is the one that I can comfortably watch with my sister and daughter.
Whenever I opened my Instagram or any other social media platform, my head blew up as everyone showed their skin. I really hate this. I am very grateful that the women in my family know their limits, and I want to say the same thing to all the actresses: that being within a limit is the real beauty. That’s why I pointed out to Durefishan that she is also one of you, and see how beautifully she arrived in decent clothes.”

Bilal also narrated a story when a fellow actress was really concerned about the criticism that was coming as she had posted a picture in a revealing outfit.
To that, he said that he told the lady that:
“You should not have posted it in the first place. People can criticize others for stupid things, which is wrong, but in the case of revealing clothes, it goes against our cultural norms, so criticism will come.”.
The actor concluded that respect is something that is earned rather than something that is forced upon people. He also educated the youth about the fact that, despite people's praise, they do not find it endearing when a girl exposes her body.
