Top 10 VPN has released a report on internet outages which has ranked Pakistan among the world’s top three in terms of financial losses due to internet outages, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday. 

Report says Pakistan topped the chart with a total financial impact of $1.62 billion. Pakistan is ahead of Sudan and Myanmar in terms of financial losses. Pakistan had 9,735 hours of internet outages in 2024 Report and as many as 82.9 million users were out of internet in 2024. The ongoing shutdown of social media platform X since February 18 was the most expensive. 

The shutdown of X since February 18 caused a loss of $1.34 billion. In 2024, there were 18 incidents of internet outages in Pakistan due to three major reasons including elections, information control and protests. 

Global internet disruptions lasted for 88,788 hours and a total of $7.69 billion was lost due to internet outages worldwide.
