The deadlock between the government and the major opposition party, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), over holding negotiations remains unresolved, with no date set for next round of talks.
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, sources revealed that if PTI’s demands are accepted, the party may propose January 9 as the date for negotiations.
PTI had earlier sought a meeting with the founder of the movement to finalise its demands. Last week, or on Monday, PTI formally requested this meeting.
The sources said the government has yet to finalise a time for the meeting, resulting in no further progress from PTI’s side.
The government is reportedly willing to facilitate a meeting after receiving PTI’s preliminary draft of demands.
However, PTI has refused to submit written demands until a meeting at Adiala is arranged.
Sources also disclosed that Party Chairman Barrister Gohar already recommended the negotiation team prepare a written draft. Despite his advice, the committee has yet to reach a decision.
It is pertinent to mention here that the PTI has sent a special message to the government, requesting a meeting with the party founder on non-court days.
