A heavy contingent of police in Karachi on Wednesday baton-charged and used water cannons against the teachers, who after holding a protest demonstration outside the press club for the acceptance of their demands, held a sit-in outside the Sindh Assembly’s building, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The city’s Red Zone turned into a battlefield as the protestors even had clashes with the police personnel.

The purpose of the protest by teachers, including a large number of females, who gathered in the port city from all over Sindh, was to push the government to make them permanent employees.

In their meeting, teachers demanded that not only be they made permanent employees but were also issued scale pension, personal ID and service cards.
