A mother suffering from mental illness, stabbed and injured her three children seriously in Dera Ghazi Khan on Wednesday while a poverty-stricken man jumped into a river along with his three children in an attempt to commit suicide, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
On receiving information, police station civil line reached the spot timely and arrested the woman.
According to police the injured children were shifted to Allama Iqbal Teaching Hospital.
Hospital sources said one child is slightly injured while other two children are in serious condition and they are hospitalized.
According to the father of the children Moen Akhtar his wife is suffering from mental illness.
Police said that the patient woman stabbed her sons Deen Muhammad, Shahwaiz and Shahzain, father Moin Akhtar said.
Legal action has been initiated against the accused, SP Investigation Bakhtiar Ahmed said.
Man attempts to commit suicide
A man tired of poverty and unemployment attempted to commit suicide along with his three children by jumping into the river in Dera Ghazi Khan, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Patrolling Malik Tanveer Ahmad said, policemen on patrol saved the four lives by risking their lives. He said the man named Tanveer is resident of Chowk Chorhata.
With the intention of committing suicide, Tanveer jumped into the Indus River with his three minor children, said SSP.
Tanveer and his children have been handed over to Darahma Police Station.
It seemed suicidal Tanveer lost his mental balance, SSP Patrolling said.
