Army backing civil admin to combat locust: COAS

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa visited the National Locust Control Centre (NLCC) in Rawalpindi on Thursday.

NLCC Engineer-in-Chief Lt-Gen Moazzam Ejaz briefed the army chief about the efforts the centre has been making to combat locust threat.

Gen Bajwa lauded the NLCC for playing pivotal part in synergising national efforts in line with the National Action Plan.  The COAS reiterated the resolve to back the civil administration with full force.

He stressed effective control operations are essential for ensuring food security in the country and mitigating the negative economic impact. The government has already declared national emergency.
