The Lahore High Court has issued a notice to the Jail Superintendent of Sargodha, seeking a reply regarding the recovery of social media activist Sanam Javed, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Monday.
The hearing presided over by Justice Muhammad Waheed Khan, was in response to an application filed by Javed Khan, Sanam Javed's father.
Barrister Selman Safdar, representing the petitioner, argued that despite being granted bail in all cases, Sanam Javed has not been released from custody. The petition names IG Prisons, the Superintendent of Jail Sargodha, the Superintendent Central Jail Kot Lakhpat Lahore, and the Deputy Commissioner of Lahore as parties.
The petitioner's lawyer stated that all bail bonds for Sanam Javed have been submitted and accepted, and she should have been released. Instead, she remains in Sargodha Jail, which the lawyer claims is an illegal detention by jail authorities. The lawyer requested an immediate report on her recovery from Sargodha Jail.
Justice Muhammad Waheed Khan has called for a detailed report from the Jail Superintendent of Sargodha by the day after tomorrow. The court has adjourned the hearing on the petition for Sanam Javed's release until June 5.
