Taking an aggressive move and a tit-for-tat reaction to the show cause notice, the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) Thursday night suspended the membership of seven members of the Pakistan Bar Council (PBC).
According to the 24News HD TV channel, the SCBA Secretary Muqtadir Akhtar issued a notification of suspension of membership of the PCB members.
The SCBA's membership of PBC's Executive Committee Chairman Hasan Raza Pasha, members Amjad Shah Riaz, Ali Sehar, Tariq Afridi, Masood Chishti, Ahsan Bhawan and Qalb-e-Hasan Shah has been suspended.
Secretary Muqtadir said an illegal attempt was made by the Pakistan Bar Council to take over the Supreme Court Bar while the council's members were also involved in misbehaved.
The matter has been sent to the SCBA General Body for final approval while the membership has been suspended, the Secretary said.
The SCBA Secretary also suspended the membership of 10 members of the opposition group's executive committee over the issue of miss conduct on Thursday night.
The Secretary said the membership of ten members of the Executive Committee is suspended for misconduct and the matter was referred to the General Body for final approval of membership suspension.
He said these ten members of the Bar have been creating problems within the Bar and had made an attempt to paralyze the SCBA in cooperation with the Independent Group of Pakistan Bar Council.
