Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Usman Dar Thursday sent a Rs10 billion legal notice to Defence Minister Khawaja Asif on the accusations of selling party tickets for elections, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
“Khawaja Asif falsely accused Imran Khan of selling tickets for Rs300 million in Sialkot. He levelled baseless and serious accusations against the PTI ticket holders in Sialkot,” the legal notice read.
“Imran Khan and other PTI leaders were slandered in a live press conference. Khawaja Asif should apologise in writing to the PTI chairman for his baseless accusations. He should get an apology letter published in the leading newspapers of the country,” the text of the notice added.
“In case of no apology, he should pay Rs10 billion in terms of damages. Legal action will be taken if he does not apologise or pay damages,” it stated.
Usman Dar said that Khawaja Asif had made lying and slandering a habit. “If Imran Khan was a leader sold on money, he would still be in power today. Khawaja Asif’s party is not even getting candidates for tickets,” he censured.
“Khawaja Asif has ridiculed not only the election candidates but also the people of Sialkot. He should give proof of the sale of tickets or seek a public apology,” he said.
